Romanian retail sales growth accelerated in February as rising wages and increased household borrowing gave citizens more disposable income. Sales increased an annual 23.5 percent in February, compared with 16.6 percent in January, the Bucharest-based National Statistics Institute said today. Sales increased 8.3 percent from January.

A lending boom in Romania, with household debt increasing more than an annual 66 percent in February, and a yearly net wage increase of more than 31 percent in January, have increased sales of most retailers. This retail sales data released today doesn't include car sales.
